DESCRIPTION:Matt Eastwood – Uber\, Head of Cities\, North East of England and Scotland \nThis is an opportunity to hear about Uber operations in Glasgow and Edinburgh and their plans for the rest of Scotland. The evening will include a short presentation followed by an extended Q&A session that will allow attendees to put their questions to Matt. Matt has previously worked with the Energy Saving Trust (EST) and CoMoUK (previously CarPlus) so is well placed to answer a wide range of questions.\n \n\n\n\n\nIn addition\, for those arriving between 1730-1800\, there will be an opportunity to tour the Community Food Initiative North East (CFINE)\, a social enterprise committed to social\, environmental and economic development. This includes their warehouse operations\, electric cargo bikes and tuk tuk! This event is jointly presented by Charted Institute of Logistics and Transport (CILT)\, Chartered Institute of Highways and Transportation (CIHT) and MaaS Scotland\, and is open to CIHT/CILT Members and students at the University of Aberdeen and Robert Gordon University.

SUMMARY:CIHT-Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) Review Update 2020
DESCRIPTION:In recent years the Design Manual for Roads and Bridges (DMRB) has been undergoing an extensive review process\, with the intention to provide a more consistent structure\, clearer and more concise information to its users\, and to simplify and enable more regular future updates. New documents are currently being introduced every month\, with the publication of all documents due to be completed by the Spring of 2020. \nTransport Scotland and the other UK devolved authorities have supported Highways England throughout the process\, through document review\, challenge\, attendance at Technical Project Board meetings and preparation of National Annexes. \nJoin Alan Oliver from the Standards Branch at Transport Scotland\nwho will explain:\n• The background behind the DMRB update and its purpose.\n• The structure of the revised DMRB and the documents within.\n• The process of preparing and reviewing a new DMRB document.\n• Challenges and key issues for users to be aware of.\n• Plans for further technical updates and our involvement in related research.
