This event offers the opportunity for attendees to consider whether this big topic in transport presents a viable alternative mode of transport or whether it is masking the larger issues at play.  We invite six speakers from a variety of backgrounds to discuss and debate the ‘big questions’ around e-scooters: \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nHow do e-scooters fit into the future of mobility?\nAre they safe?\nCan they offer a healthier way of travel?\n\nSpeakers  \n\nNathan Ashley – Senior Public Policy Manager UK\, Voi Technology\nMichael Tornow – Committee Member\, Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland\nJosh Johnson – Public Policy Manager\, Spin\nNatalie Sauber – Market Intelligence and Future Mobility\, Arcadis\nAndrew Adam – Policy Officer\, Sustrans Scotland\nDr Achille Fonzone – Associate Professor\, Edinburgh Napier University\n\nJoin us as we look at the pros and cons of electric scooters and how they could fit into today’s world. DESCRIPTION:The A66 plays an essential role for journeys across the north of England. It provides the most direct connection between the eastern side of England and the central belt of Scotland. It connects cities like Leeds\, Sheffield and Norwich to Glasgow and Edinburgh. Lorries and freight transport rely on the A66\, providing access to industrial estates\, farms and quarries along the route and across the country. It is important for ports such as Stranraer\, Teesport\, Hull and Felixstowe. DESCRIPTION:Delivery of Kintore Station \nThis event will provide attendees with an overview of the reopening of Kintore Rail Station in Aberdeenshire. In October 2020\, services began calling at the station again following its closure in December 1964. \nThe session will cover: \n\nThe history of the station reopening\, including community campaigns\, feasibility studies and applying for Scottish Stations Funding;\nPartnership working between Aberdeenshire Council\, Nestrans\, Transport Scotland\, Network Rail\, ScotRail and BAM Nuttall;\n\nSpeaker –  Paul Finch\nTransport Strategy Manager – Nestrans \nPaul is Strategy Manager for Nestrans\, North East Scotland’s Regional Transport Partnership. In his work he leads on the transport aspects of the area’s City Region Deal\, and is currently also focussed on finalising Nestrans’ Regional Transport Strategy. He previously worked for Aberdeenshire Council working on a range of strategic transport projects including Kintore Station\, and prior to that spent 15 years in consultancy\, with an interest in rural area accessibility and transport appraisal. He’s TPP qualified\, and chairs SCOTS Transport Working Group\, and enjoys running and cycling.
