The event will be followed by a live Q&A and the awarding of the CIHT Scotland Young Professional and Apprentice of the Year Awards for 2020. \nSpeakers \nPaul Matthews – Associate Director\, AECOM\nPaul is an experienced designer\, programme and project manager/director and his career has focused on walking\, cycling and place making.  He is interested in creating better places through co-design with local people.  He has led teams of engineers and urban designers to deliver a variety of active travel network and route design projects from inception to delivery. \nMartyn Lings – Senior Project Manager – Active Travel\, City of Edinburgh Council \nMartyn is a senior project manager in the Active Travel team for the City of Edinburgh Council. Having worked with Sustrans and the Council for 8 years\, he has a board range of experience in design and delivery of walking and cycling schemes. He has particular interests in the design of human scaled streets and public spaces.

From a design perspective we must consider building performance\, quality and monitoring\, but there are also significant barriers in terms of funding and skills capacity in order to implement the changes required. ECD Architects director Alistair Cameron will discuss these challenges\, and through review of current ECD projects\, explore how these challenges can be met.
